Normal Use

Most modern sites are a mix of posted articles and comments. The articles are usually written by the site’s authors and their invited contributors. Comments are usually end-user generated and do not always reflect the views of the site’s editors.

We remind users to be respectful of the others when using this site. Especially when posting comments on the articles or comments.

Will I be notified of changes to your policies?

We note in our policy pages that FoxtrotMike has the right to make changes to our policies at anytime. It is advisable to check back to see if a policy has changed.

Although we have to use legal language most edits are very minor. If we make any major changes to our policies we will post a note on the homepage.

How to Check?

At the top right of the page with a policy we publish the last changed date. We update this when we make a change.

Do you have a Privacy Policy?

Yes, we have a Privacy Policy page dedicated to it.

Do you have a minimum age policy?

We feel that the content of this site will not be of interest to minors. We have no provision for allowing minors (under 18 years old) to register and use the site.


2) My Information

What Information do you collect?

There are two main types of information that is collected.

  1. non-personally-identifiable information (such as IP address) are collected for use of security and website usage. This information is supplied to 3rd party companies such as Google Inc. in providing statistical analysis of our website. We also supply this information to our security provider to help block attacks and keep all personally-identifiable information safe.
  2. personally-identifiable information is collected for account creation, newsletter subscriptions and payment transactions via payment clearing services. The 3rd party companies that offer email newsletter services and payment clearing are only sent the minimal subset need to complete the requested action.

Examples of use for personally-identifiable information:

  1. We use MailChimp, one of the most popular newsletter service providers to delivery our email letters. To allow this we supply your email address, first and last names to our database on their servers. From our database we pull this information to build and send your newsletter. We do not give any other data to them.
  2. For payment services (such as PayPal, Authorize.net, etc.) we must give the required payment instructions. For some payment services you directly connect to their site and we do not receive any personal information. For other services we must collect details, such as credit card numbers, security codes, etc. and supply the clearing house with these details. We often to not need to keep a copy of this information on our servers. For reoccurring payments we may need to keep a copy of your details. These details are always encrypted in our database and the database is not directly accessable from the web site.
     

What happens if a breach of security occurs and my information is taken?

Will I be Notified?

If a security event happens, we will notify all affected users.

How do you Contact Me?

We use the email address associated with your profile. This is an address you have changed, the one you used at registration for the site and/or newsletter.

What if I have Multiple Email Address?

We will send the message to all email addresses that are potentially affected by the event.

How will you use my email address?

We do not sell your email address, nor do we send out promotional material for 3rd parties.

Can I remove my information?

We respect your privacy. We will work with you to remove your data from our systems. We split your data into two parts:

  1. personally-identifiable information – such as email addresses, real names, account username, etc.
  2. non-personally-identifiable information – such as IP addresses, referring sites, etc.

Personally-Identifiable Information

Our Site: By request we will remove such information, where possible, from our active systems. We do not remove your information from our backups or archived data stores. Please remember, we cannot control the usage of published information once released on the Internet (search engine sites, archival companies, news agencies, etc.)

General 3rd Party Suppliers: Also, we can ask our 3rd party supplies to remove your information from their active database(s). An examples include things such as mailing lists.

Special 3rd Parties Suppliers: Some 3rd party suppliers, such as those processing financial transactions, must keep records (e.g. credit card transaction receipts) and may decline to delete all of your personal information.

How do you use cookies?

Definition from Privacy Policy

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. FoxtrotMike uses cookies to help FoxtrotMike identify and track visitors, their usage of FoxtrotMike website, and their website access preferences. FoxtrotMike visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using FoxtrotMike’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of FoxtrotMike’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

What does this Mean?

We need to use cookies for a few items:

  • Since cookies are in use on our site we must comply with the European Coolie Law – this saves a cookie on your computer to say that you accepted the notice. When you turn off cookies the EU Law notice will always be seen. In the future we may change our terms of service to need cookies and your access to the site will blocked once you have turned off cookies.
  • You are required to login to post a comment. You can use your Facebook, Google, Twitter or LinkedIn profile to login or create a new user on our site. We use a cookie to identify you next time you visit.
  • You will be requried to login for use of future features and thus need cookies. To uses these features cookies are required.

4) Information and Privacy

Do you ask for account information in an email?

We have the following rules for communicating with out clients via email:

  1. We never ask you for your personal information via email
  2. Forms taking actions are always followed by an email request to verify you requested the action
  3. The newsletter does need an account with a password – so you will never see any password requests related to newsletters
